The unexpected expat blogger behind LighthouseGrove

Hi, I'm Sophia
Professional project manager. Parent. Expat living in Springfield, United States.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't in the grand plan. Like many expat journeys, it started as a job opportunity and rapidly grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, rising expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than warranted.
The Adjustment Period
We faced culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built LighthouseGrove
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in United States continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Springfield or anywhere in United States, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Warm regards,
Sophia
